In this episode of Franciscan Fridays, Brother Pius and Father Luke take a deeper look at the very first word of the Hail Mary and uncover its connection to joy, salvation, the New Eve, Scripture, the Rosary, and eternal life.
The Greek word translated as “hail” can also be understood as “rejoice.” What does that tell us about Mary, Jesus, and the Christian life?
Brother Pius and Father Luke also explore an important question: Can we experience the joy of God even while facing suffering, grief, trials, and crosses?
They discuss:
The meaning of the first word of the Hail Mary
Why Mary is understood as the New Eve
The connection between Luke's Gospel and Old Testament prophecy
The supernatural gift of Christian joy
Joy in the midst of suffering
The joyful mysteries of the Rosary
Hope, salvation, and eternal life
How God can meet us through small moments of joy
Why we should pray the Rosary every day for peace
Even when life is painful, Christian joy isn't simply about feeling happy. It is rooted in God's presence, God's promises, and the hope of eternal life.
🙏 Pray the Rosary every day for peace.
Franciscan Fridays brings Catholic faith, spirituality, Scripture, prayer, and Franciscan wisdom into conversations designed to help us grow closer to Christ.
